Toshi Arai

Toshi Arai, born on December twenty-fifth, nineteen sixty-six, in Isesaki, Gunma, is a distinguished Japanese rally driver and team owner. He made his competitive debut in nineteen eighty-seven, quickly establishing himself in the world of rally racing.

From nineteen ninety-seven to two thousand, and again from two thousand two to two thousand three, Arai drove for the Subaru World Rally Team in the Group N World Rally Championship. He also participated in the Group A Championship during the years two thousand and one.

In two thousand four, Arai took a significant step in his career by founding his own team, Subaru Team Arai. His efforts culminated in remarkable success, as he clinched the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship for Drivers in both two thousand five and two thousand seven, driving the iconic Subaru Impreza WRX STI. This achievement made him the first Japanese FIA world champion, with notable class victories in Turkey, Japan, and Australia.

Arai's prowess was further recognized when he won the FIA Teams' Cup in the year two thousand, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport.
