Travis Ganong, born on July fourteenth, nineteen eighty-eight, is a distinguished American alpine skier renowned for his prowess in speed events, particularly downhill and super-G. Hailing from Truckee, California, Ganong has made significant strides in the world of competitive skiing, representing the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where he impressively secured a fifth-place finish in the downhill event, just zero point four one seconds behind the gold medalist.
In December two thousand fourteen, Ganong achieved a remarkable milestone by clinching his first World Cup victory in a downhill race held in Santa Caterina, Italy. His talent shone brightly at the 2015 World Championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado, where he earned a silver medal in the downhill, further solidifying his status as a top competitor in the sport.
However, his journey has not been without challenges. In late December two thousand seventeen, Ganong suffered a significant injury to his right knee, tearing his ACL during a race in Bormio. This unfortunate setback sidelined him for the remainder of the season, including the highly anticipated 2018 Winter Olympics.
Off the slopes, Ganong has shared a long-lasting relationship with Canadian alpine racer Marie-Michèle Gagnon, whom he met in two thousand eight through a mutual friend, Louis-Pierre Hélie. The couple made a significant life change in 2014 by relocating to Lake Tahoe, California. Their love story took a beautiful turn when they announced their engagement in September two thousand twenty-one, culminating in their marriage on July twentieth, two thousand twenty-four.
