Treat Huey

Treat Huey, born on August 28, 1985, is a distinguished Filipino-American former tennis player who made significant contributions to the sport, particularly in doubles. Turning professional in 2008, he began representing the Philippines in international competitions, including the Davis Cup and the Southeast Asian Games, starting in 2009. His career is marked by a remarkable achievement of reaching eighteen finals on the ATP World Tour, securing eight titles along the way.

Huey's notable victories include triumphs at prestigious tournaments such as the 2012 Citi Open, the 2013 Swiss Indoors, and the 2014 Aegon International, all achieved in partnership with Dominic Inglot. He also celebrated success at the 2015 Estoril Open with Scott Lipsky and the 2015 St. Petersburg Open and Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur with Henri Kontinen. His partnership with Max Mirnyi led to significant milestones, including being the first Filipino player to reach the doubles semifinals at Wimbledon and to compete in the top eight doubles teams at the 2016 ATP Year End Finals in London.

In July 2016, Huey attained his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 18, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various partners, including Somdev Devvarman, Brian Battistone, and Jack Sock, among others. In addition to his competitive achievements, Huey became a member of the World Team Tennis' Washington Kastles in 2012 and participated in the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) as both a player and coach for the Philippine Mavericks.

After a successful career, Huey returned to his roots on July 1, 2023, taking on the role of Assistant Coach for the UVA Men's Tennis team at his alma mater, the University of Virginia. His journey in professional tennis came full circle when he played his first and last ATP tournaments at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. In honor of his contributions to the sport, the organizers of the 2023 Mubadala Citi DC Open held a Retirement Ceremony on July 31, celebrating his legacy with family, fellow ATP players, and coaches.
