Trent Reznor

Trent Reznor, born on May 17, 1965, is a renowned American singer, songwriter, and composer, best known as the founder and lead figure of the influential industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. Since its inception in 1988, Reznor has been the driving force behind the band, serving as its primary songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Although the lineup has evolved over the years, Reznor remained the sole official member until 2016, when he welcomed English musician Atticus Ross as a permanent collaborator.

Reznor's musical journey began in the early 1980s with synth-pop bands like The Innocent, Slam Bamboo, and Exotic Birds. His breakthrough came with the release of Nine Inch Nails' debut album, Pretty Hate Machine, in 1989, which garnered a cult following. The subsequent albums, The Downward Spiral (1994) and The Fragile (1999), solidified the band's status in the music industry, earning critical acclaim and expanding their audience.

In addition to his work with Nine Inch Nails, Reznor has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Marilyn Manson, Saul Williams, and Halsey. In 2009, he co-founded the post-industrial group How to Destroy Angels with his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and longtime collaborators Atticus Ross and Rob Sheridan.

Reznor's talents extend beyond music into film scoring, where he has partnered with Ross on numerous acclaimed projects. Their work includes scores for David Fincher's films such as The Social Network (2010), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), and Gone Girl (2014), as well as Luca Guadagnino's Bones and All (2022) and Challengers (2024). Their contributions have earned them prestigious accolades, including Academy Awards for Best Original Score for The Social Network and Soul (2020), and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited Series for Watchmen (2019).
