His entire playing career unfolded with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL) from nineteen thirty-six to nineteen fifty-one, with a notable interruption from nineteen forty-three to nineteen forty-six when he served in the Second World War.

During the nineteen forty to forty-one season, Broda achieved remarkable success, clinching his first Vezina Trophy with an impressive goals against average of two point zero.
