Tyler Bunz, born on February 11, 1992, is a former professional ice hockey goaltender from Canada. He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round, being the one hundred twenty-first overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. His journey in the sport began to take shape when he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Oilers on March 19, 2012.
In a career marked by resilience, Bunz faced a life-threatening injury on March 22, 2014, when a puck struck him in the throat. Remarkably, he recovered without the need for surgery and was able to return to the ice, showcasing his determination and passion for the game.
Tyler made his NHL debut during the 2014–15 season on April 2, 2015, against the Los Angeles Kings. Coming in as a substitute for Ben Scrivens, who had struggled in the game, Bunz faced a challenging situation, allowing three goals on twelve shots as the Oilers fell to the Kings with a final score of eight to two.
