During his major junior career with the Plymouth Whalers, Seguin made history by becoming the first player from the team to win the Red Tilson Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the Ontario Hockey League since nineteen ninety-eight. He also tied for the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy in the two thousand nine to two thousand ten season, showcasing his exceptional talent on the ice.

In the two thousand ten NHL entry draft, Seguin was selected second overall by the Boston Bruins, where he quickly made a name for himself. In his rookie season, he played a pivotal role in leading the Bruins to victory in the two thousand eleven Stanley Cup, marking a significant milestone in his career.
