Ulana Suprun, born on January thirtieth, nineteen sixty-three, is a prominent Ukrainian-American physician and statesperson known for her impactful contributions to healthcare in Ukraine. After relocating from the United States in two thousand thirteen, she quickly became a key figure in the Ukrainian medical community, serving as the Director of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at Ukrainian Catholic University.
Before her tenure in government, Suprun was the Director of Humanitarian Initiatives for the Ukrainian World Congress. Her commitment to improving medical care in Ukraine led her to establish the nongovernmental organization Patriot Defence, which focuses on enhancing tactical and emergency medical training.
In two thousand fifteen, she became an advisor to the Committee on Health of the Verkhovna Rada, paving the way for her nomination as First Deputy Minister of Healthcare by Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in July two thousand sixteen. This nomination received strong support from President Petro Poroshenko and was confirmed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Just a week after assuming the role of Deputy Minister, Suprun was elevated to the position of acting Minister of Healthcare, filling a long-standing vacancy. Her Ukrainian citizenship was granted by Poroshenko in July two thousand fifteen, and the Immigration Service of Ukraine has consistently affirmed the stability of her citizenship status.
