He was the youngest son of Virginia Bourbon del Monte and Edoardo Agnelli, and the brother of the renowned Gianni Agnelli.
His career at Fiat, the iconic Italian car manufacturer, began in earnest when he took on the role of CEO from nineteen seventy to nineteen seventy-six. Following the passing of his brother, Umberto briefly assumed the position of chairman of the Fiat Group, a role he held until his death at the age of sixty-nine in two thousand four.
In addition to his work in the automotive sector, Umberto Agnelli was deeply involved in sports, particularly football. He served as chairman and later honorary chairman of Juventus, the football club closely linked to Fiat and the Agnelli family legacy.
