Umor of Bulgaria

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Umor of Bulgaria

Umor of Bulgaria, a ruler from the Ukil clan, ascended to the throne in the year seven hundred sixty-six. His reign, however, was remarkably brief, lasting only forty days. Historical records indicate that he was entrusted with the leadership of Bulgaria by his predecessor, Sabin, although the specifics of his short rule remain largely undocumented.

Scholars have speculated about Umor's political affiliations, suggesting he may have been aligned with the peace party, similar to his predecessor, who had fallen from grace. This speculation raises the possibility that Umor, like Sabin, may have sought refuge in the Byzantine Empire following his brief tenure.

Interestingly, the seventeenth-century compilation known as Ja'far Tarikh presents a different narrative, depicting Umor, referred to as Yumart, as the elderly father-in-law of the former ruler Teles. This source claims that Yumart deposed Sabin and subsequently met his demise shortly thereafter, adding another layer of intrigue to his fleeting reign.
