Ur-Nungal

Ur-Nungal, the sixth sovereign of the First Dynasty of Uruk, is a notable figure in ancient Sumerian history. His reign, which lasted for thirty years, is documented in the Sumerian King List, a crucial source for understanding the lineage and governance of early Mesopotamian rulers.

According to both the Sumerian King List and the Tummal Chronicle, Ur-Nungal was the son of the legendary king Gilgamesh. This connection to Gilgamesh not only highlights his royal lineage but also places him within the rich tapestry of Sumerian mythology and history.
