Uzoma Asagwara

Uzoma Asagwara, born on September twenty-third, nineteen eighty-four, is a prominent Canadian politician and former basketball player. Since twenty twenty-three, they have held the esteemed position of the eleventh deputy premier of Manitoba, as well as serving as the minister of health, seniors, and long-term care. As a dedicated member of the New Democratic Party, Asagwara has represented the Union Station electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba since twenty nineteen.

Asagwara's election marked a significant milestone in Manitoba's political landscape. Alongside fellow politicians Jamie Moses and Audrey Gordon, they became one of the first three black Members of the Legislative Assembly in the province's history.
