Sukselainen's influence extended beyond national politics; he served as the President of the Nordic Council in both nineteen seventy-two and nineteen seventy-seven.

In addition to his political achievements, Sukselainen played a crucial role in the Finnish social security system. He was the fourth Director General of Kela, the Finnish social security agency, a position he held from nineteen fifty-four until nineteen seventy-one. His tenure at Kela was instrumental in shaping the welfare policies that would benefit countless Finns.

Sukselainen's legacy is not only defined by his political and diplomatic endeavors but also by his commitment to education. As a university teacher, he inspired future generations, imparting knowledge and values that would resonate within Finnish society.
