Vahagn Khachaturyan

Vahagn Khachaturyan, born on April twenty-second, nineteen fifty-nine, is a prominent Armenian economist and politician. He has been serving as the fifth and current president of Armenia since two thousand twenty-two, marking a significant milestone in his political career.

Before ascending to the presidency, Khachaturyan held the position of mayor of Yerevan from nineteen ninety-two to nineteen ninety-six. His leadership during this period laid the groundwork for his later roles in government, including his appointment as the minister of High-Tech Industry from two thousand twenty-one to two thousand twenty-two under Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Khachaturyan was a member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) until his resignation in two thousand twenty-two, although he had not been actively involved in party activities since two thousand seventeen. Notably, he led the ANC list in the two thousand thirteen Yerevan City Council election, showcasing his influence in local politics.
