Valérie Harvey

Valérie Harvey, born on October second, nineteen seventy-nine, is a distinguished Canadian writer and sociologist hailing from Quebec. With a profound interest in Japan, she spent several years living in Kyoto, where she developed a deep connection to the culture and language. This passion is reflected in her six publications dedicated to the country, showcasing her expertise and unique perspective.

Returning to Quebec for her doctoral thesis in sociology, Harvey focused her research on Quebecois fathers and the dynamics of parental leave. This work highlights her commitment to exploring contemporary social issues and contributes to the ongoing discourse surrounding family and gender roles in society.

In addition to her research, Valérie serves as the sociologist-in-residence on Ici Radio-Canada Première's program, Ça prend un village, where she also contributes as a researcher. Her role in this program underscores her dedication to public engagement and her ability to communicate complex sociological concepts to a broader audience.

Harvey is also an educator, teaching Japanese at Collège Saint-Charles-Garnier in Quebec City.
