Valerie Jerome

Valerie Jerome, born on April twenty-eighth, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished African-Canadian retired track and field athlete, educator, and political activist. Her athletic prowess was showcased on the world stage when she competed in the women's 100 metres at the nineteen sixty Summer Olympics, marking a significant milestone in her career.

In addition to her Olympic appearance, Jerome made her mark at the nineteen fifty-nine Pan American Games, where she secured a third-place finish in the 4 × 100 metres relay and also competed in the long jump, finishing seventh. Her versatility is evident as she is the only Canadian athlete to have participated in five track and field events across the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, or Pan-American Games.
