Vânia Fernandes

Vânia Fernandes, born on September twenty-fifth, nineteen eighty-five, hails from the picturesque city of Funchal in Madeira, Portugal. Since nineteen ninety-seven, she has captivated audiences with her powerful stage presence and versatile voice, performing both on her home island and across mainland Portugal.

In two thousand seven, Vânia achieved a significant milestone by winning the prestigious talent contest, Operação Triunfo, which is the Portuguese equivalent of Star Academy. That same year, she completed her professional music studies at Madeira's Conservatory, specializing in singing and jazz.

Her career took a remarkable turn when she represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in two thousand eight. On May twenty-second, she performed the enchanting song "Senhora do mar" during the second semi-final in Belgrade, Serbia. This song won the national selection final, Festival da Canção, and Vânia went on to secure thirteenth place in the Eurovision final on May twenty-fourth, earning sixty-nine points.
