Vashti Bunyan, born in 1945, is an English singer-songwriter whose career began in the mid-1960s. She made her debut with the album Just Another Diamond Day in 1970, a work that, despite its artistic merit, initially sold very few copies. This lack of commercial success led Bunyan to step away from the music scene, feeling disheartened by the industry's response.
However, the passage of time brought a remarkable change. By the year 2000, Just Another Diamond Day had garnered a cult following, prompting its re-release. This resurgence reignited Bunyan's passion for music, leading her to record new material and embark on a second phase of her career after a thirty-year hiatus.
In the years that followed, Bunyan released two more albums: Lookaftering in 2005 and Heartleap in 2014. These works showcased her evolution as an artist and solidified her place in the contemporary music landscape.
