Venetian Snares

Aaron Funk, born on January 11, 1975, is a prominent Canadian electronic musician known artistically as Venetian Snares. Residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Funk has made significant contributions to the breakcore genre, establishing himself as a leading figure in the experimental electronic music scene. His work is characterized by intricate drum patterns, a diverse array of samples, and unconventional time signatures, particularly the unique seventy-four.

One of his most acclaimed works, the 2005 album 'Rossz Csillag Alatt Született,' masterfully blends breakbeats with orchestral elements, earning widespread recognition and helping to elevate both Funk and the breakcore genre within the electronic music community.

Funk's prolific nature is evident in his frequent releases, often producing multiple records each year across various labels, including Planet Mu, Hymen, Sublight, and his own label, Timesig. He has also released music under several aliases, such as Last Step, Snares Man!, Snares, and Speed Dealer Moms, although his output has slowed in recent years. Beyond breakcore, he has ventured into other electronic styles, including glitch, IDM, modern classical, and acid techno.
