Věra Jourová

Věra Jourová, born on August eighteenth, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent Czech jurist and politician. She has made significant contributions to European governance, particularly in her role as Vice-President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-four.

Before her tenure as Vice-President, Jourová served as the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality from two thousand fourteen to two thousand nineteen. Her work during this period was pivotal, especially in the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation, which established new privacy rights for citizens across Europe.

In addition to her European Commission roles, Jourová was a Member of the Chamber of Deputies from two thousand thirteen to two thousand fourteen and held the position of Czech Minister for Regional Development in two thousand fourteen.
