Vesna Pusić, born on March twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty-three, is a prominent Croatian sociologist and politician. She made history as Croatia's second female Foreign Minister, succeeding Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, and served as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs in Zoran Milanović's centre-left cabinet.
Her political journey began in the early nineteen nineties, and she has since been elected to the Croatian Parliament for five consecutive terms, participating in the elections of two thousand, two thousand three, two thousand seven, two thousand eleven, two thousand fifteen, and two thousand sixteen. Pusić also made a bid for the presidency in the two thousand nine to ten election, where she finished fifth among twelve candidates.
During her tenure in parliament from two thousand eight to two thousand eleven, she chaired the committee responsible for overseeing Croatia's accession negotiations with the European Union. Pusić is recognized for her liberal stance and her advocacy for European integration, anti-fascism, gender equality, and LGBT rights.
In addition to her national contributions, she has held the position of Vice-President of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR), further solidifying her influence in European politics.
