Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Viggo Jensen

Viggo Jensen, born on June twenty-second, eighteen seventy-four, was a pioneering Danish athlete who made history as the first Nordic Olympic champion at the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in Athens in eighteen ninety-six.

Competing in weightlifting, Jensen showcased his strength in the two-handed lift, a discipline now recognized as the clean and jerk. He achieved a remarkable lift of one hundred eleven point five kilograms, tying with Launceston Elliot from Great Britain and Ireland. However, Jensen's superior form earned him the gold medal, despite a protest from the British delegation that led to additional attempts, which ultimately did not change the outcome.

In the one-handed lift, known as the snatch, Jensen faced challenges due to a shoulder injury sustained during the earlier competition. He managed to lift fifty-seven kilograms, securing a second-place finish behind Elliot, who lifted seventy-one kilograms. Jensen also participated in the shot put, where he placed fourth, and in the discus throw, he finished sixth.

Jensen's versatility extended to gymnastics, where he competed in rope climbing. Although he did not complete the climb, he placed fourth, outperforming Elliot. Additionally, he showcased his marksmanship in two rifle events, finishing sixth in the military rifle and achieving a commendable third place in the free rifle with a score of one thousand three hundred five points.
