Vijender Singh

Vijender Singh, born on October twenty-ninth, nineteen eighty-five, is a distinguished Indian professional boxer and a prominent politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. His remarkable journey in boxing began as an amateur, where he made history by winning a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, becoming the first Indian boxer to achieve this prestigious feat.

Throughout his amateur career, Vijender showcased his exceptional talent by securing bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He also earned silver medals at the Commonwealth Games in two different years, 2006 and 2014, all while competing in the middleweight division.

In June twenty-fifteen, Vijender transitioned to professional boxing, signing a multi-year agreement with Queensberry Promotions through IOS Sports and Entertainment. This pivotal move meant he would not participate in the 2016 Olympics, which would have marked his fourth Olympic appearance.

Beyond the boxing ring, Vijender has actively engaged in politics, contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the South Delhi constituency. His influence extends into the administrative realm of boxing, as in January twenty-twenty-six, the Boxing Federation of India announced his appointment as a member of the Asian Boxing Council.
