Viktor Savinykh

Viktor Savinykh, born on March seventh, nineteen forty in Beryozkiny, Kirov Oblast, Russian SFSR, is a distinguished Soviet cosmonaut and accomplished aerospace engineer. His journey into space began when he was selected as a cosmonaut on December first, nineteen seventy-eight. Over the course of his career, he served as Flight Engineer on three significant missions: Soyuz T-4, Soyuz T-13, and Soyuz TM-5, accumulating an impressive total of two hundred fifty-two days, seventeen hours, and thirty-eight minutes in space.

After retiring from active space missions on February ninth, nineteen eighty-nine, Savinykh transitioned into academia and leadership. He became the rector of the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography from nineteen eighty-nine to two thousand seven, and has held the position of president since two thousand seven. His contributions to education and personnel training in the higher education system have been invaluable.

In addition to his engineering and educational endeavors, Savinykh is also a published author. His book, 'Notes from a Dead Station,' released in nineteen ninety-nine, reflects on the restoration of control over the Salyut 7 space orbital station in nineteen eighty-five.
