Viktor Talalikhin

Viktor Talalikhin, born on September eighteenth, nineteen eighteen, was a distinguished Soviet military officer and fighter pilot. His career in aviation began in the late 1930s, where he flew the Polikarpov I-153 during the Winter War, showcasing his skills and bravery in the face of adversity.

During World War II, Talalikhin served valiantly in the air defense of Moscow as part of an aviation regiment within the Soviet Air Defence Forces. His remarkable feats in the sky earned him recognition as one of the first Soviet aviation heroes of the conflict.

Talalikhin is particularly noted for his audacious aerial ramming of a German bomber at night, a daring maneuver that exemplified his courage and tactical ingenuity. This act of heroism, however, came at a great cost, as he was ultimately shot down and killed in late October while piloting a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3.

Throughout his service, Talalikhin claimed three victories during the Winter War and four more while defending Moscow, solidifying his legacy as a skilled and fearless fighter pilot.
