Vinod Khanna

Vinod Khanna, born on October sixth, nineteen forty-six, was a prominent Indian actor, film producer, and politician celebrated for his significant contributions to Hindi cinema. Known as a style and fashion icon, he earned the moniker 'Sexy Sanyasi' and was regarded as a sex symbol, solidifying his status as one of the greatest stars in the history of Indian cinema. In recognition of his illustrious career, Khanna was posthumously awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in two thousand eighteen during the sixty-fifth National Film Awards.

Khanna made his cinematic debut in nineteen sixty-eight, initially taking on supporting and antagonistic roles. His portrayal of an angry young man in the social drama 'Mere Apne' in nineteen seventy-one, along with his role as the main antagonist in 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh' the same year, marked the beginning of his rise to fame. By the mid-seventies, he had established himself as a leading action hero, rivaling the dominance of Amitabh Bachchan and becoming a box-office magnet.

From nineteen seventy-four to nineteen eighty-two, Khanna starred in numerous hits, often ranking among the highest-paid actors of his time. His contributions during this era significantly bolstered the popularity of masala films. However, at the peak of his career, he took a five-year hiatus from the film industry to pursue spiritual enlightenment under his guru, Osho Rajneesh. He made a successful return in nineteen eighty-seven with 'Insaaf' and continued to deliver hits, including 'Suryaa' and 'Chandni' in nineteen eighty-nine.

In his later years, Khanna garnered acclaim for his roles as fatherly figures in successful films such as 'Wanted' in two thousand nine, 'Dabangg' in two thousand ten, 'Dabangg 2' in two thousand twelve, and 'Dilwale' in two thousand fifteen. Beyond his cinematic achievements, Khanna was also a notable political figure, serving as a Member of Parliament for the Gurdaspur constituency from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand nine and again from two thousand fourteen to two thousand seventeen. He held ministerial roles in the Government of India, including Minister for Culture and Tourism and Minister of State for External Affairs under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
