Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag, born on October twentieth, nineteen seventy-eight, is a former Indian cricketer celebrated for his explosive batting style and remarkable achievements on the field. Representing India from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand thirteen, he is widely regarded as one of the most destructive openers and one of the greatest batsmen of his era. Sehwag played for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League and represented Delhi and Haryana in domestic cricket.

Sehwag made his One Day International debut in nineteen ninety-nine and joined the Indian Test side in two thousand one. His career was marked by numerous accolades, including being the first Indian to be honored as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in April two thousand nine, a title he retained in two thousand nine. He occasionally served as stand-in captain and was the vice-captain of the Indian squad, also leading the Delhi Daredevils and the Delhi Ranji Team.

During his illustrious career, Sehwag was part of the Indian team that won the two thousand seven T20 World Cup and the two thousand eleven Cricket World Cup. He was the highest run-scorer in the two thousand two ICC Champions Trophy, amassing two hundred seventy-one runs. In two thousand twenty-three, he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, further solidifying his legacy in the sport.

Sehwag holds multiple records, including the highest score by an Indian in Test cricket, three hundred nineteen runs against South Africa, and the fastest triple century in international cricket, achieved in just two hundred seventy-eight balls. He also set the record for the fastest two hundred fifty in Test matches, reaching the milestone in two hundred seven balls against Sri Lanka. His career strike rate in Test matches stands at eighty-two point twenty-three, the highest among batsmen with a minimum of three thousand Test runs.

After retiring from all forms of international cricket on October twentieth, two thousand fifteen, Sehwag has continued to contribute to the sport as a member of the Anti Doping Appeal Panel of the National Anti Doping Agency under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
