Vitalii Skakun

Vitalii Skakun, born on August nineteenth, nineteen ninety-six, was a dedicated Ukrainian marine combat engineer known for his bravery and commitment to his country. As a sapper, he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of military operations.

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Skakun made the ultimate sacrifice while executing a critical mission. He was tasked with blowing up a bridge in Henichesk to impede the advance of Russian troops during the Southern Ukraine campaign. In a heroic act of selflessness, he detonated the explosives while still on the bridge, demonstrating extraordinary courage in the face of danger.

For his valor and sacrifice, Vitalii Skakun was posthumously awarded the Order of the Gold Star, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his nation and his fellow soldiers. His legacy continues to inspire those who serve and protect Ukraine.
