Renowned for his aggressive batting style, he typically occupied the number three position in a formidable West Indies lineup, earning a reputation as one of the greatest batters in cricket history.

Richards made his Test debut in nineteen seventy-four against India, alongside fellow cricketer Gordon Greenidge. His peak performance years spanned from nineteen seventy-six to nineteen eighty-three, during which he achieved an extraordinary batting average of sixty-six point fifty-one in Test cricket. Despite facing challenges in nineteen eighty-four due to eye surgery that affected his vision, he continued to excel, finishing his career with an impressive total of eight thousand five hundred forty runs in one hundred twenty-one Test matches, maintaining an average of fifty point twenty-three.

As a captain, Richards led the West Indies to victory in twenty-seven out of fifty Test matches, solidifying his legacy in the sport.
