Vladimir Krylov, born on February 26, 1964, in Sengiley, Ulyanovsk Oblast, is a distinguished former Soviet athlete renowned for his exceptional sprinting abilities. He made his mark as a champion in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, securing the title of Soviet champion in these events, along with the Soviet indoor 200 meters in 1989.
His athletic prowess was showcased on the world stage when he won a gold medal as part of the Soviet 4 × 100 m relay team at the 1988 Summer Olympics. The following year, Krylov continued to excel, clinching first place in the European Cup sprint relay and finishing third in the 100 meters.
Krylov's career highlights include a fifth-place finish in the 400 m at the 1985 IAAF World Cup and a surprising victory in the 200 m at the 1986 European Championships, where he also contributed to a third-place finish in the 4 × 400 m relay. At the 1987 World Championships, he again showcased his talent, finishing fifth in the 200 m and earning a silver medal as part of the Soviet 4 × 100 m relay team.
