Vladimir Luxuria

Vladimir Luxuria, born on June twenty-fourth, nineteen sixty-five, is a prominent Italian activist, television personality, and actress. Known for her groundbreaking role in politics, she made history as the first openly transgender member of Parliament in Europe, following in the footsteps of New Zealander Georgina Beyer, who was the world's second openly transgender MP.

Luxuria's political career took flight when she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the two thousand six general election, representing the Lazio 1 constituency in Rome. As a member of the Communist Refoundation Party, she was part of The Union coalition led by Romano Prodi. Her tenure was marked by her advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice.

Despite her significant contributions, Luxuria lost her parliamentary seat in the election of April two thousand eight. Following her departure, there were no reported transgender MPs globally until two thousand eleven, when Anna Grodzka was elected to the Polish parliament, highlighting the rarity of transgender representation in politics.
