Vladimir Nazlymov

Vladimir Nazlymov, born on November first, nineteen forty-five, is a distinguished former sabre fencer and coach with a remarkable legacy in the sport. Of Crimean Tatar origin, he represented the USSR in fencing before relocating to the United States in nineteen ninety-one. His career is highlighted by winning three Olympic gold medals in team sabre, showcasing his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.

For fourteen years, Nazlymov served as the head coach of the Soviet Union Military Fencing Team, where he honed the talents of numerous athletes. After his move to the United States, he took on a coaching role at Ohio State University, where he made significant contributions to the program. However, his tenure ended amid an NCAA investigation that resulted in sanctions and the vacating of several team records.

Today, Vladimir Nazlymov continues to share his passion for fencing as a coach at the Nazlymov Fencing Foundation, an organization founded by his son and daughter-in-law. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of fencers reflects his enduring love for the sport and his desire to pass on his extensive knowledge and experience.
