Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Volodymyr Dakhno

Volodymyr Dakhno, born on March 7, 1932, in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian SSR, was a distinguished Ukrainian animator, film director, and screenwriter. Growing up in a family where his father served as a colonel and his mother worked as a librarian, Dakhno was a bookish child with a passion for drawing. His upbringing in Zaporizhzhia played a significant role in shaping his sense of humor, which later became a hallmark of his work.

Initially, Dakhno enrolled at the Kyiv Medical Institute but soon transferred to the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute. There, he studied under the renowned architect Joseph Karakis. Dakhno drew parallels between architecture and animation, emphasizing the importance of visualizing ideas before bringing them to life on screen. He believed that a successful cartoon requires a director to have a vivid imagination and the ability to conceptualize thoughts visually.

Throughout his career, Dakhno became best known for the beloved animation series Cossacks, which showcased the adventures of Zaporozhian Cossacks. His contributions to the field of animation earned him prestigious accolades, including the Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in nineteen eighty-eight and the title of People's Artist of Ukraine in nineteen ninety-six. He worked at Kievnauchfilm, now known as Ukranimafilm, where he left a lasting impact on the animation industry.

In recognition of his legacy, Google honored Dakhno with a Doodle on March 7, 2013, marking what would have been his eighty-first birthday. His work continues to inspire future generations of animators and filmmakers.
