VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman, born on November first, nineteen seventy-four, is a distinguished former international cricketer and a respected cricket commentator. Renowned for his elegant stroke play, Laxman made his mark as a right-handed middle-order batsman in Test cricket. His contributions to the game extend beyond his playing days, as he currently serves as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is the head coach for both the India Under-19 and India A teams.

Throughout his illustrious career, Laxman was a pivotal member of the Indian team that shared the title of joint-winners of the two thousand two ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka. Notably, he is among the select few cricketers to have played one hundred Test matches without ever participating in a Cricket World Cup. Despite being known for his relatively slow running between the wickets, Laxman’s exceptional stroke play and ability to score quickly made him a formidable opponent.

In two thousand two, he was honored as one of Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year, solidifying his status in the cricketing world. Laxman is often celebrated as part of the original 'Fab Four' of Indian cricket. His domestic career saw him represent Hyderabad and play for Lancashire in county cricket. He also captained the Deccan Chargers during the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League and later played for the Kochi Tuskers.

Beyond his playing career, Laxman served as a mentor for the Sunrisers Hyderabad until two thousand twenty-one and is affectionately known as the 'God of 4th Innings' for his remarkable performances in Test matches. In recognition of his contributions to Indian cricket, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honor, in two thousand eleven.
