Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Vytenis Andriukaitis

Vytenis Andriukaitis, born on August ninth, nineteen fifty-one, is a distinguished Lithuanian physician and politician affiliated with the Social Democratic Party. He has been serving as a member of the European Parliament since July twenty twenty-four. A heart surgeon by training, Andriukaitis previously held the position of European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety during the Juncker Commission from two thousand fourteen to two thousand nineteen.

Andriukaitis's early life was marked by adversity; his family was deported to Siberia in June nineteen forty-one. They were allowed to return to Lithuania in nineteen fifty-eight, with his father returning a year later. Demonstrating academic excellence, he enrolled at Kaunas Medical Institute, graduating in nineteen seventy-five. His political journey began in nineteen seventy-six as a member of the underground Social Democrat movement, while he simultaneously pursued a degree in history at Vilnius University, which he completed in nineteen eighty-four.

In nineteen ninety, Andriukaitis was elected to the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania, the precursor to the Seimas, and he served six terms in the Lithuanian Parliament from nineteen ninety-two to two thousand four and from two thousand eight to two thousand twelve. He held the role of deputy chairman of the council from two thousand one to two thousand four. Following his tenure as health minister from December two thousand twelve, he was appointed as an EU Commissioner in November two thousand fourteen.

After concluding his term as European Commissioner, Andriukaitis took on the role of WHO Special Envoy for the European region in March twenty twenty. His extensive career in public service and commitment to health policy culminated in his recent election to the European Parliament, where he continues to influence health and food safety policies across Europe.
