W. Edmund Clark

W. Edmund Clark, born on October 10, 1947, is a distinguished Canadian banker and entrepreneur, renowned for his leadership in the financial sector. He served as the president of Canada Trust from 1994 to 2000, a pivotal role that set the stage for his subsequent tenure at the Toronto-Dominion Bank.

From 2000 to 2014, Clark held the position of president and CEO of the Toronto-Dominion Bank, where he made significant contributions to the institution's growth and stability. His leadership spanned over a decade, culminating in his announcement on April 3, 2013, of his intention to retire effective November 1, 2014, at the age of sixty-seven.

Following his retirement, Clark continued to influence the business landscape as an adviser to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne. His efforts were instrumental in introducing beer and wines into grocery stores, as well as in the partial privatization of Hydro One, the electricity distribution company.
