W. Thomas Molloy

W. Thomas Molloy, born on July twenty-seventh, nineteen forty, was a distinguished Canadian lawyer and politician, known for his significant contributions to treaty negotiations and higher education.

He served as the twenty-second Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan from January twenty-second, two thousand eighteen, until his untimely passing on July second, two thousand nineteen. Appointed by Governor General Julie Payette on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Molloy was sworn in on March twenty-first, two thousand eighteen, succeeding Vaughn Solomon Schofield.

In addition to his role as Lieutenant Governor, Molloy was also the Chancellor of the University of Saskatchewan, where he played a vital role in advancing the institution's mission and vision. His dedication to public service and education left a lasting impact on the province.

Sadly, Molloy succumbed to pancreatic cancer just over a year after taking office. The Province of Saskatchewan honored his legacy with a state memorial service on July thirteenth, two thousand nineteen, celebrating his life and contributions to the community.
