Waiofar, also known by various spellings such as Waifar, Waifer, or Waiffre, was a prominent figure in the history of Aquitaine, serving as its last independent Duke from the year seven hundred forty-five until his death in seven hundred sixty-eight. He ascended to this noble position following the peaceful transition of power from his father, Hunald I, who chose to enter a monastery, thus paving the way for Waiofar's rule.

During his tenure, Waiofar faced significant challenges, particularly from the burgeoning Carolingian dynasty, led by Pepin the Short, who became the king of the Franks in the year seven hundred fifty-one. This conflict marked a pivotal point in Waiofar's reign, as he navigated the complexities of being a nominal vassal to Pepin while striving to maintain the autonomy of Aquitaine.
