Walter Boudreau

Walter Boudreau, born on October fifteenth, nineteen forty-seven, is a distinguished Canadian composer, conductor, and saxophonist. His musical journey began in nineteen sixty-nine when he co-founded the innovative group L'Infonie alongside Raoul Duguay. This ensemble, known for its avant-garde approach, captivated audiences until its dissolution in nineteen seventy-three.

In addition to his work with L'Infonie, Boudreau has made significant contributions to contemporary music in Canada. Since nineteen eighty-eight, he has served as the artistic director of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec in Montreal, where he has played a pivotal role in promoting and nurturing new musical talent.

One of his notable achievements includes being a principal collaborator in the Symphonie du Millénaire, a monumental event that took place in Montreal in the year two thousand. This project showcased his commitment to pushing the boundaries of musical expression.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the performing arts, Boudreau was honored with the Governor General's Performing Arts Award in May two thousand fifteen, which stands as Canada's highest accolade in the field.
