Walter Laufer

Walter Laufer, born on July fifth, nineteen oh six, was a distinguished American swimmer who made his mark in the world of competitive swimming during the late 1920s. Representing the Cincinnati YMCA and the Chicago Lakeshore Athletic Club, Laufer showcased his exceptional talent at the 1928 Summer Olympics held in Amsterdam.

At these Games, he achieved remarkable success, earning a gold medal as part of the four by two hundred meter relay team and securing a silver medal in the one hundred meter backstroke event. His accomplishments not only highlighted his prowess in the pool but also contributed to the legacy of American swimming on the international stage.

After retiring from competitive swimming in nineteen thirty, Laufer transitioned into a successful career outside of athletics. He joined the Cincinnati Chemical Company, which later evolved into the Toms River Chemical Company located in Tom's River, New Jersey. His dedication and hard work led him to rise through the ranks, ultimately achieving the position of General Foreman before his retirement.
