Walter Rodney

Walter Rodney, born on March twenty-third, nineteen forty-two, was a prominent Guyanese historian, political activist, and academic. His work was characterized by a deep commitment to social justice and a critical examination of historical narratives, particularly regarding the impact of colonialism.

One of his most influential contributions to the field of history is the groundbreaking book, How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, which was first published in nineteen seventy-two. In this seminal work, Rodney challenged prevailing views and highlighted the detrimental effects of European colonialism on African development.

Rodney's life was tragically cut short when he was assassinated in Georgetown, Guyana, in nineteen eighty. His legacy, however, continues to inspire activists and scholars around the world, as he remains a symbol of resistance against oppression and a voice for the marginalized.
