Walter Slezak

Initially making his mark in German cinema, Slezak migrated to the United States in nineteen thirty, where he became a prominent figure in Hollywood, showcasing his talents across stage, film, and television.

Known for his ability to embody wily and loquacious characters, Slezak often infused his roles with a philosophical bent and a penchant for the finer things in life, including food and drink. His versatility allowed him to shine in various genres, from the suspenseful to the comedic.

Among his notable performances, Slezak portrayed a crafty U-boat captain in Alfred Hitchcock's gripping film Lifeboat in nineteen forty-four. He also captivated audiences as a charming, two-timing major domo in Come September, released in nineteen sixty-one, and brought to life a wandering gypsy in The Inspector General in nineteen forty-nine.
