Walter Zeman

Walter Zeman, born on May first, nineteen twenty-seven, was a distinguished Austrian football goalkeeper who played a pivotal role in the renowned second Austrian Wunderteam during the 1950s. His journey in football began at the local club SV Wienerberger, but it was at FC Vienna where he truly honed his skills before making a significant move to Rapid Vienna in nineteen forty-five.

At Rapid Vienna, Zeman's talent shone brightly as he helped the team secure an impressive tally of eight Austrian league championships, one Austrian Cup, and the prestigious Zentropa Cup in nineteen fifty-one. His contributions to the club were paralleled by his achievements on the international stage, where he earned his first cap for the Austria national football team.

Zeman's international career peaked when he represented Austria at the nineteen fifty-four FIFA World Cup, where the team advanced to the semi-finals, only to be narrowly defeated by West Germany. Over the course of his career, he earned a total of forty-one caps for his country and is often celebrated as Austria's second greatest goalkeeper, following the legendary Rudi Hiden.

His remarkable performances on the field earned him the affectionate nicknames 'the Tiger of Budapest' and 'the Panther of Glasgow.'
