Wang Zhenyi

Wang Zhenyi, born on November first, nineteen twenty-four, is a distinguished Chinese hematologist and pathophysiologist. He holds the title of professor emeritus of Medicine and Pathophysiology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he has made significant contributions to the field of medicine.

Wang is renowned for his groundbreaking work in the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. In nineteen eighty-six, while collaborating with Laurent Degos in France, he led a pivotal trial at Ruijin Hospital that utilized tretinoin on a cohort of twenty-four patients, ultimately discovering a cure for this challenging form of leukemia.

His remarkable achievements in medical research have not gone unnoticed. In September twenty twenty-four, Wang was honored with the Medal of the Republic, the highest accolade awarded by the People's Republic of China, recognizing his invaluable contributions to healthcare and medical science.
