Wayne Yearwood

Wayne Yearwood, born on September twenty-second, nineteen sixty-four, in Montreal, Quebec, is a distinguished Canadian former professional basketball player and coach. He represented Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, showcasing his talent on an international stage alongside teammates like Dwight Walton and Steve Nash. Yearwood's basketball journey began at Dawson College, where he played alongside friends Walton and Trevor C. Williams, before moving on to compete in NCAA Division I basketball at West Virginia University.

Yearwood's professional career spanned eight years in Europe, where he made a significant impact in the Greek Basket League with teams such as Panathinaikos and Apollon Patras. He later played in Switzerland for Vevey Basket and Genève Versoix Basket. In addition to his basketball prowess, Yearwood also demonstrated his athletic versatility by playing as a wide receiver for West Virginia and being selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the second round of the nineteen eighty-eight CFL draft.

Since two thousand three, Yearwood has been the head coach of the men's Division One basketball team at Dawson College. Under his leadership, the Dawson Men's Basketball program has flourished, winning the RSEQ provincial championship twice, with the latest victory occurring during the twenty twenty-two to twenty twenty-three season. Yearwood has also guided his team to the CCAA National Championship on three occasions, achieving podium finishes each time, including a gold medal in two thousand seven, a silver in two thousand twenty-three, and a bronze in two thousand twenty-two.
