Wei Yingwu

Wei Yingwu, a prominent figure of the Tang dynasty, was born in the year seven hundred thirty-seven. Renowned as a poet, writer, and official, he left an indelible mark on Chinese literature and governance. His courtesy name was Yibo, and he was also known by his art name, Xizhai.

Throughout his literary career, Wei Yingwu's contributions were significant, with twelve of his poems featured in the esteemed anthology, Three Hundred Tang Poems. This collection has played a crucial role in shaping the appreciation of Tang poetry, showcasing the depth and beauty of his work.

In addition to his literary achievements, Wei Yingwu served as the governor of Suzhou, earning him the honorific name Wei Suzhou. His governance and literary prowess reflect the duality of his talents, making him a respected figure in both the arts and public service.
