As the chief of the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW), he was instrumental in executing the military strategies of the regime, often acting as a close confidant to Adolf Hitler.
Keitel's military career began to ascend in nineteen thirty-five when he was appointed head of the Armed Forces Office at the Reich Ministry of War.
