Willem Kes

Willem Kes, born on February 16, 1856, in Dordrecht, was a prominent figure in the world of classical music. His talents as a conductor, composer, violist, and violinist set him apart in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Kes is perhaps best known for his role as the first principal conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. He held this prestigious position from 1888 until 1895, during which time he significantly contributed to the orchestra's reputation and artistic direction.
