William Andres

William "Bill" Andres, Jr. was born on August 2, 1925, and left a significant mark on Canadian politics and agriculture. A dedicated farmer and fruit grower, he transitioned into the political arena, where he became a prominent member of the Liberal Party. His political career took off when he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1974 election, representing the Ontario riding of Lincoln.

During his tenure, Andres served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of State for Multiculturalism from 1977 to 1979, showcasing his commitment to fostering diversity within Canada. He was actively involved in various standing committees, contributing to important discussions and decisions that shaped the nation.

However, his political journey faced challenges. Following a re-distribution of ridings, he ran in the St. Catharines riding during the 1979 election but was not successful. Undeterred, he continued to pursue his political ambitions and ran as a candidate for the Christian Heritage Party of Canada in the 1988 federal election, again facing defeat.

William Andres passed away on September 23, 2010, leaving behind a legacy of public service and dedication to his community. His life reflects the intertwining of agriculture and politics, illustrating the diverse paths one can take in service to their country.
