William Bunting Snowball, born on January twelfth, eighteen sixty-five, was a prominent Canadian politician and timber merchant. As the eldest son of Jabez Bunting Snowball, who served as Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, William was immersed in a political environment from an early age.
Snowball's political career was marked by his tenure as the mayor of the Town of Chatham, New Brunswick, where he served four terms. His leadership in local government showcased his commitment to public service and community development.
In a significant step in his political journey, Snowball was elected to the House of Commons of Canada representing the riding of Northumberland, New Brunswick, as a member of the Liberal Party. He won this seat in a by-election held on October first, nineteen twenty-four. Unfortunately, his time in office was cut short when he passed away suddenly on September twenty-seventh, nineteen twenty-five, less than a year after his election.
Snowball received his education at Upper Canada College, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in both business and politics. His legacy continues to be remembered in the communities he served.
